Codex failed to resume chat: my chat history wouldn’t load again

Got this problem again. A bunch of my Codex chats just kept loading and then failed to resume.

Last time I got this problem after Codex was shut down while it was still running. This time idk why it happened again, maybe a few weeks after the old problem.

The direct cause this time was the local Codex history database. thread_history_1.sqlite returned SQLite’s database disk image is malformed error, so a lot of the old chats couldn’t resume.

The good thing is the chats weren’t gone.

I just told Luna Max to fix it for me. I also told it not to check if the history had disappeared because I already knew it hadn’t. It was just the chats not loading.

Codex recovered the history database and the old chats opened again. The screenshots below are basically what it found and what it did.

It still took almost one hour out of my Monday morning. And this was literally the first thing I had to deal with today. I just felt tired.
